Renfrew Center of Southern Connecticut

1445 E Putnam Ave, Greenwich, Connecticut, United States, 06870

Eating disorder behaviors and substance use are frequently interconnected, with one behavior fueling another or increasing the urge to engage in the other. The addictive process and the abusive use of mind/mood altering substances make the recovery process from an eating disorder even more difficult. Therefore, The Renfrew Center has developed a specialized Substance Use track in order to address both issues and promote a more holistic recovery.

The Renfrew Center’s Substance Use Track:

Provides groups designed to educate women about the complex connection between eating disorders and substance abuse, and develops skills necessary for a comprehensive recovery.
Employs a staged treatment approach, designed to meet a woman at her particular level of readiness, given that women with substance abuse problems come into treatment at different levels of readiness to change. This assures that she is able to take the necessary sequential steps toward recovery.
Provides a safe place for honest self-exploration about the impact of substance use on one’s life through educational, experiential and skill development groups, in addition to AA participation.
