Toxic Combination Stole Lil Peep’s Life

 

The Medical investigators in South Arizona have come to determine the combination of prescription drugs caused the death of rapper Lil Peep.

On December 8th, the Pima County office of the medical examiner release details from the toxicology report. The report verified that the cause of death was the result of mixing his prescription medications, his pain medication Fentanyl and Alprazolam, used to treat anxiety. His death was certified as accidental.

Gustav Ahr, Lil’ Peep’s real name, was found dead on his tour bus on November 15th before a concert in Tucson. His manager said he had gone to take a nap around 5:45 and saw him sleeping and breathing on his own. She said she had checked on him a little later and could not wake him and decided to let him sleep. After a second manager tried to wake him he was unresponsive and they then began CPR. He had just turned 21 earlier that month.

Peep had built his career on homemade mixtapes then released them on the streaming platform SoundCloud. After accumulating a large fan base Peep debuted his first full length album, “Come Over When You’re Sober, Part 1” There was such a high demand for his funeral service Lil Peep’s team decided to release his funeral service to be streamed on his YouTube channel. Lil Peep’s mother spoke about her son kindly, and recalled a conversation she had with his brother.

“One of the things Oskar said to me was, ‘Momma, just think of what he accomplished in barely 21 years […] most people never get to do in their entire lifetime what Gus did in 21 years,’” Womack recalled. “[…] Gus did it. He lived his own life on his own terms. He was a stubborn, driven, talented, crafty, observant, and tender young man. Gus was also vulnerable.”
